Opsa line of production in which a number of assembly operations are performed in a set sequence. The speed of movement of an assembly line has to be matched with the skills and abilities of the workforce and the complexity of the assembly process to be performed. The assembly line emerged from the ideas of scientific management and was popularized by a number of entrepreneurs, including Henry Ford in the car production industry. -
